This cake has many names all around the world for example jelly rolls, Swiss roll, but in Sweden it is called rulltårta. It is a simple sponge cake which is one of the classical cakes to make when you will have guest coming over. This is the base recipe but it is possible to make it more like a dessert cake with whip cream and fruits.

Have you heard of the Swedish semlor, a cardamom bun filled with almond paste and whip cream? The semlor (plural) is so popular so it even exists a special day for this pastry, the Tuesday between Shrove Monday and Ash Wednesday. This is a modified version of the original semla made in to a big soft cake that still taste like a real semla.

This is a classical Swedish recipe for a soft gingerbread cake that is often served around Christmas time. To make the cake more luxurious you can serve it together with whipped cream and fresh lingonberries.

In Sweden most people associate the coffee bread"fikabröd" made with saffron to the time right before Christmas. This is a recipe for cookies made with saffron and can be prepared long in advanced, so you don’t need to stress the same day you want to serve them.

This is a homemade portuguese custard tart. These small tart are easy and fast to prepare. They might not look so special but taste wonderful. They have a crispy shell of puff pastry filed with a wonderful taste of vanilla.
